• HOLIDAY BREAK!!

2nd trimester is almost over! Over the holidays be sure to clean out your child's backpack. If notices have been sent home, inquire about them and ask if your child has read the information sent home in his/her backpack. As always, talk positively with your child about school. When you are out and about in the community, encourage your child to read signs, estimate prices of items you might like to buy, and stop by the library to get books to read over the holidays. You can always access our on-line interventions. See the directions below. Have a safe and happy holiday. We will see you back at school, Monday, January 12th!!!

Mission Statement:  Success for tomorrow by learning today.
Vision Statement:  We believe that every child learns best in a safe and caring environment where high academic expectations, self-esteem, good character, healthy lifestyles, and an appreciation for the arts are promoted.

Washington Elementary serves a diverse, multi-cultural student population of about 890 students.  We are located on the border between the cities of Norco and Corona in a semi-rural setting.

Our theme this year is "Washington Eagles are college bound!"  We are promoting college awareness on our elementary campus.  You will see that many of our activities will be connected to a college theme-- we are collaborating to provide "success for tomorrow by learning today" for every student.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were recently adopted by the State of California and forty-five other states to replace current state standards. California’s standards have been among the most rigorous in the nation. The Common Core State Standards will provide students greater rigor and depth of learning that results in better critical thinking skills and the ability to apply what has been learned.

CNUSD seeks to prepare our students for a more competitive and globalized world. Please view the following video to see what CNUSD is doing in preparation for the CCSS and how parent and community participation can assist our students in becoming both college- and career-ready.
