    (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
AVID's purpose is to close the achievement gap by preparing every student for a 4-year university so they can be successful in our global society. This elective course is offered to students with a 3.0 overall GPA who would like additional support and guidance through their high school career to ensure their eligibility to apply to a 4-year institution. Just as a counselor routinely meets with students to monitor and track their progression towards graduation, AVID teachers and tutors meet daily in a scheduled class to track and monitor each child's progression towards meeting not just graduation criteria, but university requirements. (View FAQ for a side-by-side comparison.)
     Over 90% of all students
    who complete AVID attend
    a 2-year or 4-year college
    or university.
