First and foremost, welcome to my class and I am excited to teach and learn with all of you. This website includes useful tools that you will be able to utilize to better understand what goes on in my classes and the expectations that are in place.
By clicking on the links to the left you will be able to access information regarding your students class. There is a syllabus that describes the course, provides information on what will be covered, and outlines classroom policies and procedures. Under Essay Information is an MLA Handout, which illustrates how students will format their essays for ERWC. (Please print a copy to be kept in your student's notebook.) An Essay Rubric (scoring guide) lists what is required when writing an essay and offers an explanation for a graded final draft.
Homework is provided on a daily basis. Please check the ERWC link and there you will be able to access the agenda and any other pertinent information. Students are responsible for making sure that they see me for all handouts and worksheets needed to complete their assignments. Some will be distributed in class and others will need to be printed out either at home or in our school library; there is a 10cent charge per copy. They are allowed one day per excused absence to make up work. Late work will NOT be accepted. (Please see the class syllabus.)
Some of the literary selections and non-fiction articles we will be reading may be found online. Go to http://www.google.com/ and type in the title and the author.
If you wish to discuss your student's progress, I recommend that you first check their grades on Q (Attendance records are also available). Go to the Parent Portal that can be found on the school website. If you need assistance with logging in or need a password, please email Kathie Castillo at email@example.com. Please allow 24-48 hours for her to respond. Students may check their grades by also going to Student Connect and then entering their student number and the password that was issued to them in the library. This is the same password they use to access computers on campus. Also, both parents and students can also download the Norco HS App and to get connected.
In addition, I will also be utilizing a phone app, called REMIND, to remind you and your student of upcoming assignments and events. You will just need to subscribe to it. (More information to follow)
I hope that you have found this information useful. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for visiting this website.
