Posted by Rebecca Deragisch on 8/17/2016 3:00:00 PM

To check out a book from the class library, you must sign the digital form.

A QR Code to this form is also avialable on the bookshelf in the room for your convenience.

All books are first-come, first-served. You may only check out one book at a time. You can keep books as long as you need to, but please return them to the proper place on the shelf AND fill out the form to check the book in, so that others know it is available for them to check out. If you have any questions please let me know!

The list is alphabetical by author's last name.

  • Independent Reading Assignments

Posted by Rebecca Deragisch on 8/9/2016

You should always have an independent reading book with you every day. Reading books must be the following:

    1. a book you have not yet read
    2. a book that is at or above your reading level (flip open to a random page and read it/skim it. If you do not know 3-5 words on that page you're good! If it has more but you are up for a challenge, you're welcome to do that too!). "At or above your reading level" also includes maturity level (though all books must be school appropriate) - if you would not be able to talk about the book to your classmates and parents, you need to find a different book
    3. a book that you enjoy reading

If you have any questions about if a book is appropriate or not, please send me a message. Feel free to use resources such as the school library, public libraries, friends' libraries, or purchase your own book.

The classroom library is also available through a digital check-out system. Students can only check out one book at a time, and they are free to keep them as long as they are reading them and bringing them to class every day. If a student has had a book for an extended period of time and there is a "waitlist" for the book, the student may be contacted to return the book. A link to the digital check-out system will be here on the class website and will be sent out in a remind text to the class.
