This program is offered to students experiencing extenuating circumstances which inhibit their ability to attend school daily. These students meet weekly with fully credentialed teachers who design a standards-based, individualized workload within the parameters of district graduation requirements and student weaknesses and strengths.
The intent of Independent Study is not to serve students over an extended period of time, but rather to provide a means for students to continue their education when personal difficulties arise. Students return to their home school or enter an LPHS program as soon as they are able. Students who do not find success in Independent Study are counseled to register in another LPHS program or return to their home schools. A maximum of 45 credits may be earned each semester in this program.
