• A is for Attendance-

    much of our learning will take place together in class. We do lots of hands-on activities and group work. Please plan to
    attend school every day,
    except in cases of illness or emergency!

    B is for Book orders-

    book orders form will come home from Scholastic. This
    is a great way to purchase
    books inexpensively, while helping our class earn points towards other items!  

    C is for Communication-

    write a note on the

    inside the HORSE.

    D is for Dismissal-

    school ends at 2:57.  Every Wednesday will be an early dismissal day.  The student's
    will get out at 1:57.  It will
    be very important that you
    pick your child up on time.

     

    E is for Emergencies-

    please make sure we have the correct emergency information on file for your child. If phone numbers change, you can call
    or send a note so your child's
    file can be updated!

     

    F is for Folder-

    make sure you bring your
    HORSE Folder everyday. 

    G is for Graded work-

    will be found inside the 
    PTA SBA Folders on 
    Mondays 

     

    H is for Homework-

    will be handed out daily,
    with the exception of spelling.  This is to make sure that every assignment given was covered 1st in class.

     

      I is for Information-

    if you have any important
    papers that need to come to school, please send them in
    your child's HORSE Folder,
    as I will be checking these daily!

     

    J is for Job Well Gone-

    there will be many different
    ways in which your child gets recognized for their good work.  Life Skill cards, small treats,
    table points and stickers are
    just to name a few.

                   K is for Kindness-

    we will learn about being kind
    to others and ourselves every day. Susan B. Anthony has a Life Skills program that will focus on 10 different life skills to help students get along.

    L is for Lunch-

    lunchtime is from 11:40-12:25pm.   Please try to avoid taking your child out of school during this time as it is hard to locate them in a timely manner.

     

     

    M is for Money-

    second graders will hang
    on to all monies sent to
    school until needed. 

    N is for...

    Newsletters- newsletters with class updates and class needs will come home as needed.  It will be important to sign up to receive emails from the Room Mom.

     O is for...

    Open Door - in order to keep students safe and maximize learning time, all parents must make an appointment ahead of time to come inside the classroom. 

    P is for...

    Parties- if you would like to help with a class party or provide snacks or favors, please let me know! There will be a space to sign up for special event at Back to School Night.

    Q is for...

    Quick and Quiet Hellos- as you see your child in our class, I will urge them to acknowledge you with a "quick and quiet" wave hello. It is important for them to greet you, but remain involved in class activities.

    R is for...

    Reading- Accelerated Reading is a huge program that focuses on your child’s individual reading level.  Students will choose books at their reading level from the library and take a comprehension test on the computer each week.

    S is for...

    Spelling- tests will be given once a week on high frequency sight words commonly used in second grade.  The words will spiral throughout the year.  The goal is to improve spelling in their writing.  

    T is for...

    Tardy- students should be at school by 8:45. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.

    U is for...

    Understanding -I understand that each child is different and unique and will do my best to meet and challenge each student were they are at.

    V is for...

    Volunteers- we love volunteers! Moms, dads, grandparents can volunteer in class or work on things at home. Please let me know if you'd like to help and we can find a classroom job for you! 

    W is for...

    Website- my teacher page is update on SBA’s website.  You will find lots of good information there.

    X, Y, and Z are for...

    I am eXcited to work with You and Your child this year! Make sure he/she gets plenty of Zzzz's each night as we have exciting days planned for this year!
