Welcome to First Grade at Rosa Parks Elementary School! I look forward to sharing many interesting and exciting learning activities for the 2017-2018 school year. My name is Ms. Barbour and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I’d like to tell you a few things about myself.

I have been a First Grade teacher in the Corona-Norco Unified School District for twenty nine years, and was a Second Grade teacher in Oxnard School District for one year, so this will be my thirtieth year teaching! I received my B.S. Degree in Child Development from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and my teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton. I received my M.A. in Teaching from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. I also hold my CLAD certificate. I live in Murrieta and enjoy spending time with my family, riding my horses,  gardening, and just relaxing on the porch.  I have two children. My son is thirty two years old and lives on Pine Mountain, north of Ojai, Ca. He graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.  My daughter is twenty six years old and lives in Lake Elsinore. She is a cosmetologist.

I look forward to working with you and your children. I love to teach First grade. My work is very important to me and I am highly committed to my students. My mission is to guide your children to believe in themselves through both positive and negative times.  I hold high expectations for each student in regards to their academic, social, emotional, and physical well being. I want to provide your children with a comfortable, safe environment in which they are respected and treated fairly, a place where they will learn the lifeskills they need to be independent, confident, and happy individuals. I hope to inspire your children to be the best they can be and develop a lifetime love for learning.

I look forward to an exciting, busy year. Your support is greatly appreciated. If you have any concerns please contact me at (951) 736-7305. My e-mail address is dbarbour@cnusd.k12.ca.us.  I am not available during class time, but if you leave a message, I will return your call/e-mail as soon as possible.
