11:55-12:00Opening: Good morning songs, Flag salute, phonemic awareness, letters, sight words, skills practice
12:00-12:15Interactive Read Aloud: The students and I interact conversationally during a story while working on reading comprehension skills such as prediction, clarification, retell and monitoring as well as author, illustrator, and parts of a book. I teach reading behaviors I expect to see them using in independent reading.
12:15-12:30Shared Reading: Reading instruction where my voice is present in the reading along with theirs. I teach reading behaviors and strategies I expect to see them using in independent reading.
12:30-12:45Independent Reading: Students read independently and apply strategies I have taught.
12:45-1:00Interactive Writing: Students and I negotiate text and share the pen in writing. Our classroom walls are filled with student generated, negotiated, and written text. This writing is then used as a resource in their independent writing. I teach writing behaviors and strategies I expect to see them using in independent writing.
1:00-1:20Independent Writing: Students write independently in their journals. I expect them to write sentences with sight words they know and to phonetically spell words they do not know. I expect them to use words in the room that we have read or written as a resource and to apply strategies I have taught.
1:30-2:15Literacy Centers/Guided Reading/Intervention: Students work independently on center activities that practice skills and standards all ready taught. During this time I pull reading and intervention groups.
Math: Math concepts are taught through Envison, read alouds, interactive writing and sharing reading. The students are given time for hands-on practice.
Pack up and DismissEVERY WEDNESDAY/EARLY RELEASE DAY! 8:25-11:19. We come to school in the morning.~Order of elements is subject to change according to purpose
