    When & Where can we get an Accelerated 6th Grade Program Applications?

    Beginning December 1, 2016  applications will be available on the ECMS website www.ecmsredhawks.com and in the school office. Hold on to your completed applications until you read the next Question and Answer…..

    When, Where, & How  can we turn in the Accelerated 6th Grade Program Applications? 

    Completed applications must be hand delivered for a date and time stamp with ALL the documents stated on the revised application. No Fax, Email, or Postal Mail applications will be accepted.
     
    Beginning Wednesday, December 7, 2016 the Accelerated Sixth Grade Program Applications will be accepted at the El Cerrito Middle School Library located on Rudell Road from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, and from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm in the school's front office located on El Cerrito Road.
     
    Starting Thursday December 8, 2016 the Accelerated Sixth Grade Program Applications will be accepted at the Front Office located on El Cerrito Road from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
     
    What is the 6th grade program about?
    It is an accelerated program for motivated students who would benefit from a progressive educational program. You will receive more information during Parent Information Night on December 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
     
    Why was my child called? 
    All 5th parents in the district received a message broadcast informing them of a parent information night regarding the El Cerrito Middle School Accelerated Sixth Grade Program for the next school year 2017-2018.
     
    When is the parent information night? Time? Location? How long?
    Tuesday, December 6, 2016 @ 6:00 p.m. It will be in MPR and runs about 1 hour.
    Questions will be answered that night that are similar to the following:
    • What is the interaction between 6th graders and the school?
    • How much homework?
    What is the parent information night about?
     It is an evening for you to have all of your questions answered regarding the accelerated 6th grade program.
     
    Will applications be available online?
    Applications are being revised and will be available online beginning December 1, 2016.  We will begin to accept applications on December 7 at from 8:30 am to 12 pm in the school library, and then in the front office until 3:30 pm. On Dec 8,  we will accept applications in the office from 7-3:30 pm weekdays only.Completed applications must be hand delivered for a date and time stamp with ALL the documents stated on the revised application. No Fax, Email, or Postal Mail applications will be accepted. You must be present for a date and time stamp.
     
    Will you be taking applications on parent information night?
     
    No. Beginning Wednesday, December 7, 2016 the Accelerated Sixth Grade Program Applications will be accepted at the El Cerrito Middle School Library located on Rudell Road from 9:00 am to 12 pm. This location will ONLY be accepting applications on December 7, 2016After this time, applications will be accepted at the front office located on El Cerrito Road from 12pm – 3:30 pm.

    Starting Thursday December 8, 2016 the Accelerated Sixth Grade Program Applications will be accepted at the Front Office located on El Cerrito Road from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

    Will there be another parent information night?
    At this time we have not determined a second parent information night. 
     
    Will if I can't make it to the parent information night?
    At this time we have not determined a second parent information night. You may call El Cerrito Middle School at 951-736-3216 if you have questions about the program.
     
    Is there transportation if my child gets accepted?
    For Transportation accuracy, please check CNUSD transportation website or call Transportation directly at 951-736-8230.
     
    What are the requirements for this program?
    We recommend you have a motivated student who enjoys doing homework and studying for school. Since this an accelerated program, students who have a 6th grade reading level or above and are receiving A’s and B’s in class do very well in the program. 
     
    How many students are accepted into the program? 
    Currently we have four classes with 34 students in each class.
