The following expectations for students have been discussed and agreed upon by the fifth grade team.
- Follow directions the first time they are given.
- Allow the teachers to teach and others to learn and participate.
- Demonstrate that you are a hero each and every day by respecting yourself, others, and your school.
Classroom Economy-Fifth Grade Five
Our grade level will be using a system of rewards and fines using “Fifth Grade Five” dollars. Rewards and fines will be assessed weekly.
Restroom - $10 Bathroom Pass Unused-$5 or $10Name Logged-$5 Behavior-$ earned from Class Dojo points at the end of the week
Missing Homework-$5 Weekly Homework Completed-$5Returning Important Papers - $$$$Bonus cash-$5
Fines and bonuses can be changed/adjusted if needed during the school year based on teacher discretion.
Rewards can be used in a monthly class store, and an end of year reward.
Fifth Grade Curriculum
Our fifth grade curriculum is based on the new California Common Core Standards Testing will most likely occur in April/May. Students in 5th grade are expected to complete homework on a daily/weekly basis. Homework will include, but will not be limited to the following:Reading for 30 minutes nightlyReading Response LogMath PracticeSpelling Contract
Students will record homework in their daily planner. Please check the planner each day and initial. Homework grades for the grading period will be based on number of assignments completed and turned in on time on a weekly basis.
Students will also be given a homework folder to keep all papers for homework. Please make sure your child brings this back and forth to school each day.
The following grading scale will be applied to most subject areas. Writing will be graded based on 5th grade writing rubrics. Please refer to additional handout for grade requirements for Honor Roll.

Parents will be notified if a student is in danger of failing in any subject area. A progress report will be sent home with any student in danger of failing at the midpoint of each trimester. Please check weekly communication folder for graded papers. Most subject grades will be based on unit assessments that will be graded and returned in the communication folder.
