    2017 Freshmen Orientation & Registration

    Itinerary - revised from registration paperwork! 
    7:00am to 9:00am - Registration (Cafeteria)
    Report as early as possible to the Quad to find a line outside the cafeteria doors. All forms will be turned in here, as well as student photos taken to make the students' ID cards. Click here for fall registration info and required forms and steps needed prior to registration. Parents may join students, but due to limited time and space, we ask that only one parent join each student. And, if parents can't make it, don't worry, we have plenty of staff members on hand to help guide them through the process. (Students will not be turned away due to insufficient paperwork - we will notify the student and catch up with the student and parents at a later time.)
    9:00am to 9:20am - Assembly Check-In (Gym)
    Once students turn in their fall registration paperwork and take their photos in the cafeteria, students will report back to the quad and in line outside of the gym doors. All Fantastic Freshmen receive their first NHS spirit shirt, proudly sporting Class of 2021. Parents to report to the PAC for a presentation from the Principal.
    9:20am to 10:35am - Assembly (Gym)
    Students will check in and receive a name badge with key information that will indicate which group they are assigned to for the day, then watch and participate in the fun-filled assembly!!!
    10:35am to 12:15pm - Groups
    Freshmen will break up into their groups with their Link Crew Leaders and break up into classrooms for more fun-filled activities!!!
    12:15pm to 12:55pm - Lunch (Quad)
    Freshment will remain in their groups and grab some free lunch! Pizza and soda provided. Additional items will also be available for sale in the quad.
    12:55pm to 1:30pm - Groups (Classrooms)
    More great activities in groups in their assigned classrooms.
    1:30pm to 2:00pm - Closing Assembly (Gym) 
    Closing assembly to be held to launch into the last portion of fall registration.
    2:00pm to 3:00pm - Finish Registration
    Link Crew leaders will assist students with completing their fall registration by using their student ID cards to check out textbooks, find their lockers, reset their passwords in the library, and pay for items in the Student Store. Parents may rejoin students in the quad after 2pm. Parents must be present when using a credit card to pay for items at the Student Store. Checks must be made out to "NHS ASB" and have the student's ID number on the memo line. 
    3:00pm to 4:00pm - Student Pick-Up
    Festivities end at 3pm and the school closes at 4pm (custodians may be on campus until later, but no supervision past 4pm).

    Frequently Asked Questions 
    Who is invited to attend? All incoming Norco High School 9th grade students.
    Can parents or other family members attend? Parents may accompany their student during the registration part (7-9am and 2-3pm); however we are unable to allow parents into the Orientation festivities. Only students enrolled to attend NHS this fall may attend (no family members or friends visiting from out of town). Parents are invited to join a warm welcome from the Principal, Mr. Ibbetson, from 9am to 10am as he introduces new parents to Norco High through recent news and updates for the upcoming year. Parents may rejoin their student no earlier than 2pm to assist with credit card payments at the Student Store; otherwise, the preferred pick-up time is 3pm.
    What if I have a child with special needs? Please email Mr. Amabile at aamabile@cnusd.k12.ca.us immediately to best prepare services or special arrangements to best accommodate your child.
    What if I have a child who takes medication? Please email Mr. Amabile at aamabile@cnusd.k12.ca.us.  
    What should my child bring? All 9th graders must bring their registration forms (parents must update Emergency Contact info online through their Parent Connect account). The library will be open to students and parents during the full registration week for walk-in's to assist parents with obtaining a PIN, resetting their passwords, and walking parents through the process of updating contact info. Remember, you must provide 3 contacts so we can be sure to reach a family/friend should an emergency occur. Click here to download instructions and forms.
    Will lunch be served? Yes! Link Crew will be providing water and pizza for the students. Students will only get one slice of pizza and one bottle of water. Food vendors will also be available during lunch only with a variety of other food offerings for sale.
    What should students wear? Wear plenty of sunscreen, shorts or pants, nice top for pictures, and comfortable shoes. Students will receive a new Class of 2021 Norco High School spirit t-shirts to wear during their Orientation. (View NHS Dress Code Policy)
    If the students turn in registration forms for registration when they check-in in the morning, what do they do with their Activities Order Form and monies? Students will hang onto them throughout the day. They will have lots of space to set it down or ask their Link Crew Leaders for assistance. Students may bring a small drawstring bag or purse to carry small items, such as personal items, money, water, and cell phone. Students will be assigned as a group to a specific classroom, so there will be places to store personal belongings there, too.
    What if my student is unable to attend the Orientation? No problem! We'll get them their shirt when they return on the first day of school. Visit the Registration Make-Up webpage for complete information on how to complete the registration process.
