Degrees and Certifications:
This course is designed to conform to the standards of the Advanced Placement Program and to the standards of the University of California. This course will help students' critical thinking skills, ability to evaluate data, and ability to analyze and synthesize evidence. In addition to discussing the fundamental governmental structures and institutions within the United States, students in this course will analyze the interaction among the branches of government, federal bureaucracy, special interest groups, political behavior, concepts of culture and their influence on government, socio-economic status and political alienation, and analyze the activities of political decision makers. Students are encouraged to take the spring Advanced Placement Examination.
