      Lisa Grajeda – Library Clerk
Lincoln's Library has a lot to offer students, teachers, and parents. Presently we have over 14,000 books, audios, and videos to entice both eager and reluctant readers. We encourage parents to come in to borrow books for their children before school at 7:45 to 8:00 and after school at 2:15 to 2:45.  All classes are scheduled 30 minutes of library time each week. At this time students have the opportunity to check out 2 books, one classical and one free choice.
Curriculum support is a major focus of the library. Helping students with research for biography reports, or history and science projects is an important function of the library. We also have many educational games that teach students library skills. They learn about the Dewey Decimal System, call numbers, research materials, and the various parts of a book. We also play fun and exciting games that reinforce what is being taught in the classrooms or games that review literature. Student favorites are: Ball Toss, Risk It and Tic Tac Toe.
Reading aloud to children is a gratifying experience. I enjoy reading interesting stories of different genre's that often bring amusement, teach a valuable lesson, or one that tells the true story of an animal or person. I also show Discovery Education Videos (formerly known as United Streaming) that support all areas of study as they relate to the state standards for kindergarten through sixth grade.
I love being a librarian and working with the students and staff at Lincoln Alternative School. It is my hope that our students enjoy coming to the library and that it proves to be an important component to their learning experience.
