GATE: Orange Elementary

  • Orange Elementary logo In order to meet the needs of all of our students at Orange Elementary School, those students identified as GATE are provided with differentiated instruction. We do our best to cluster our GATE students into classrooms so that teachers can more readily enrich their learning experience. Although the same grade level standards are taught to all students, GATE students are provided with opportunities to go above and beyond, and learn at a deeper level based on their abilities. Students are given opportunities to enrich their learning experience through research, extended reading with peers, and technology along with opportunities to participate in Science Fair, History Day and Math Field Day are also available to our GATE students. The students routinely engage in Thinking Map activities as well as explore different sides of the engagement cube. We also have a Friday each month where GATE students are given the opportunity for enrichment activities. Some of these activities have been robotics, programing/coding their own video game, and we even have had guest speakers come and speak to the students about jobs related to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
