Greetings Patriots,
The 2011-2012 school year is off to a great start. This year promises to be one of best years ever at Adams. We have a newly invigorated PTA lead by President Ida Lozano that is planning some amazing activities for the children. In particular, this year’s focus is on parents getting involved in their child’s education. We are seeking any and all forms of volunteers to come on campus, work with students and teachers to make the learning experience even more special for our children. With that focus in mind, we have launched a new program for fathers and father figures called Watch DOGS. DOGS stands for Dads Of Great Students, and it is a program that gets significant men on our campus to help with classroom activities, playground fun and security. If you are a male role model for a child, please contact our office to see how you can become a Watch DOG at Adams.
As you may know by now, Adams’ students and teachers performed at such a high level last year that we experienced tremendous growth in our state test scores. In particular, we went up 31 API (Academic Performance Index) points to 822. That is the third highest growth in the district amongst elementary schools. In addition, and perhaps even bigger news, we met all of our AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) targets as a school AND in all of our significant subgroups which means we froze our program improvement status in year one. The students could not have performed any better…I am so proud of their efforts as well as the tremendous efforts of our teachers and staff that make Adams a top notch academic program. This year we are already back at it knowing that if we have significant growth again we can get out of program improvement altogether.
I hope you enjoy our newly refocused web site. Make sure you check out all the various links, and visit often as we intend to update this site frequently. In addition, make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (links attached) in order to keep up with all the happenings at the greatest school on earth. Thank you for your continued efforts to be awesome parents! It is the combined efforts of the child, the school, and the home that breed success…and at Adams, success is the only option.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dietrich
