• Dear Families:

My name is Russ Schriver and it is my honor to join the Norco Elementary staff as our new principal. I would like to take this opportunity to briefly share a little about myself.

I’m very blessed to have a wonderful wife, Jennifer, who is also an administrator in education with the Alvord School District. Together, we have four amazing kids: John is a junior at CBU, studying to be a teacher; Sarah is a freshman at Cal State San Marcos; Daniel is a high school sophomore and Sofia is going into the eighth grade and both attend CNUSD schools.

My career in education began in 1990 and I have taught at both the elementary and Jr. High levels. I became an administrator in 2000 and have served as Assistant Principal of McKinley Elementary, (2000-2002), the Principal of Washington Elementary (2002-2007), Coordinator in Curriculum & Instruction (2007-2009); Principal of VanderMolen Elementary (2009-2012) and most recently, the principal of Garretson Elementary. In addition, I have coached baseball for over 12 years with Corona-National Little League.

I have several prior experiences in administration that I believe will continue to support the mission of Norco Elementary. Our school is moving into a multi-year modernization project, and I have been a teacher/administrator of four separate construction projects over the years. I’m excited to hear that Norco has already started both AVID and PBIS. These endeavors are extremely valuable since they further connect students to learning and to school. I look forward to support both our GATE and SPED programs which further enhance student achievement.

Over the month of July, I have enjoyed meeting numerous staff, teachers, families and our fantastic PTA. It is apparent that we have a strong, familiar culture here at Norco Elementary. I look forward to meeting all of the students and families over the coming weeks. I make a point of being in the parking lot for student drop-off/pick-up and I encourage you to introduce your student to me.

In conclusion, the key to a Great School is developing positive, meaningful connections for students, parents and teachers and I look forward to becoming a part of the Norco Elementary family.

    Sincerely,

    Russ Schriver
