Principal’s Message

Thank you to staff, parents, and students for the warm welcome to Wilson Elementary.  I am so thrilled to be joining the Wilson Family.  I come to you with 20 years experience in education.  I was a teacher for 15 years with the Ontario-Montclair School District.  For the past five years, I have been a school site administrator for the Hemet Unified School District.  I now look forward to serving the staff, families and students of Wilson Elementary.   Personally, I live in Riverside with my family.  I have three wonderful daughters that are 15, 12, and 6 years in age.

Even as a little girl, I always wanted to be a teacher so, as you can imagine, I always look forward to the excitement of a new school year and all the beginning of the year activities that go along with the start of school.  I have already met many of you and I look forward to having an opportunity to speak with all of our amazing families and community members.

I am proud to be part of this wonderful school community.  We are most proud of our highly qualified and dedicated staff, a school full of involved community members and parents; and last but not least, our fantastic students.  We focus on high academic expectations while creating and maintaining a clean and safe campus.  We provide student centered learning and work to close the achievement gap, ensuring that ALL students have equal access to a rich and fulfilling educational experience.

This year our school will focus on the transition that the entire nation is making from the 1997 Standards to the Common Core State Standards.  The standards are more specific so students will learn concepts more in depth and the standards are more rigorous, or as we in the Corona-Norco School District like to call them, more “vigorous”, meaning students will be practicing skills and will be performing at a higher cognitive level.  Our teaching staff is being trained to better prepare them for the more challenging and vigorous curriculum.  Our focus this year is to set our students on the path for College and Career Readiness…through the Common Core.

We are a Character Counts School.  The students are learning and practicing social skills and learning to resolve conflicts peacefully.  We will be focusing on the following character traits this year:  Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship and Trustworthiness   Thank you to our Wilson Families for supporting  us in helping students to learning positive character traits at school and at home.

I invite all of you to be an active participant in your child’s learning experience.  There are many ways to get involved through PTA, ELAC, SSC, etc.  Our staff truly believes in the power of collaboration and in coming together to make Wilson Elementary a great place for our students to learn and grow.

It is sure to be a truly amazing school year!
