Thank you to staff, parents, and students for the warm welcome to Wilson Elementary. It has been a great return to a great school. As many of you know, I taught at Wilson many years ago, and am thrilled to be back as principal.

I am so proud to be part of this wonderful school community.  We are most proud of our highly qualified and dedicated staff, a school full of involved community members and parents; and last but not least, our fantastic students.  We focus on high academic expectations while creating and maintaining a clean and safe campus.  We provide student centered learning and work to close the achievement gap, ensuring that ALL students have equal access to a rich and fulfilling educational experience.

Our focus continues to be ensuring that our students are on the path for College and Career Readiness…through the Common Core. Our teachers have been diligently training and preparing lessons with our new English Language Arts and English Language Development Benchmark curriculum materials to keep reading and writing at the forefront of our student's academic focus. We are also continuing to find new ways to encourage all of our students to have a mathematical mindset.

We follow the Wilson Way every day - Be respectful. Be responsible. Be safe. The students are learning and practicing social skills and learning to resolve conflicts peacefully. We have Golden Tickets to recognize students for their positive interactions and behaviors. Thank you to our Wilson Families for supporting us in helping students to learning positive character traits at school and at home.

I invite all of you to be an active participant in your child’s learning experience.  There are many ways to get involved through PTA, ELAC, SSC, etc.  Our staff truly believes in the power of collaboration and in coming together to make Wilson Elementary a great place for our students to learn and grow.

It is sure to be another amazing school year!
