The NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS is a district-wide fitness competition for the 2 best student athletes (one boy & on girl) from each of the 10 middle/intermediate schools to gather and compete against one another. This event will extend the opportunity for the students who excel in Physical Education to be fully recognized for their hard work and dedication. The long-term goal of this event is to reinforce the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and how participating in fun, life-long fitness activities can improve one’s quality of life.
 
WHEN: Thursday, May 8, 2014
             *Games, food, and entertainment - 3:30pm-5:15pm (On ECMS courtayrd)
             *Opening Ceremonies & Competition begins at 5:30 pm (In ECMS Gym)


WHERE: El Cerrito Middle School (7610 El Cerrito Road, Corona, CA 92881)

Competitors:
Top male and top female athletes on the CA state Physical Fitness Testing (Fitness Gram)  from the following middle/intermediate schools: Auburndale, Cesar Chavez Academy, Citrus Hills, Corona Fundamental,

El Cerrito, Home Gardens Academy, Norco, Ramirez, Raney, and River Heights. These athletes will compete against one another for the title of male and female 2014 CNUSD's CHAMPION OF FITNESS and the school with the highest collaborative score as “DISTRICT CHAMPIONS OF FITNESS.”
Audience: Family, friends, coaches, teachers, district administrators, and community members


COST: $2 per person - Limited seating available! Seating is first come, first serve. See your PE teacher for details on how to buy your tickets!
*All proceeds are used to host the event the following year.


FOOD: Papa Johns (pizza), Jamba Juice (smoothies), and Kona Ice (snow cones), as well as popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase.

 

ENTERTAINMENT: 20+ Carnival style games include an inflatable Jousting Ring/Jumper, Boxing Ring/Jumper, Wheel of Fortune, Plinko, Knockout, Basketball Shoot, Lucky Duck, Lollipop tree, Corner pocket, Hole-in-1, Cookie Monster Frisbee throw, Skee-Ball, Over the Hill, and many more!

 

VOLUNTEERS: We would appreciate any support from the school community members who would like to help during the event on Thursday, May 8th. We will need help with chaperoning the carnival games, and general supervision. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Ross via email: mross@cnusd.k12.ca.us
