Advanced Class Placement

Advanced Language Arts Courses:

Pre-AP (Pre Advanced Placement):  Any student can enroll in Pre-AP classes.  Please consider the following recommended items to be successful:

Ø      Scoring Proficient or higher on the California State Test in Language Arts

Ø      Currently earning A’s and B’s in Language Arts

Ø      You feel your student can do the extra work and projects for Pre AP but their current test scores or grades do not reflect that, we can discuss placing your student in Pre-AP with the expectation they will maintain an A, B, or C, as well as exemplary behavior.

Advanced Math Courses:

7^th Grade Algebra I:  The following are pre-requisites for placement in Algebra I.

Ø      Scoring Advanced on the California State Test in Math

Ø      5^th grade math CNUSD Trimester 1 and 2 Assessments-Advanced Score

Ø      If student scores Advanced in 2 out of 3 and Proficient on the 3^rd, the student and parent will be given the option to take the Pre-Algebra Trimester 3 Assessment one time for a possible placement into Algebra I.

8^th Grade Geometry:  The following are pre-requisites for placement in Geometry

Ø      Scoring Proficient of higher on the California State Test in Math

Ø      Algebra I CNUSD Trimester 1 and 2 Assessments-Proficient or higher
