Centennial High School is committed to serving all students and their families. However, the education of a child is a shared responsibility. Parents, school and community are all vital contributors to our students’ success. The English Learner Department at Centennial is keenly aware of this; and to this end, has planned several important parent meetings. This year, Centennial’s English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) will meet on the following dates:
· September 19, 2012
· October 24, 2012
· December 12, 2012
· February 13, 2013
· April 24, 2013
· May 15, 2013
All ELAC meetings will be held in the school library from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Topics for discussion at these meetings include: Understanding the American Public School System, A-G requirements, Understanding Academic Credits and the GPA, The Master Plan for English Learners, The Importance of School Attendance, Academic Programs (Puente, Upward Bound, AVID, AP and IB), Post Graduation Options and Financial Aid, Gang and Drug Awareness, and much more.
This is an invitation to all of our English Learners parents to participate in these meetings and demonstrate their support for our students and school. We hope you to see you on campus very soon!
