    Greeting Ben Franklin Families!

As the newly elected PTA president, I would like to welcome back returning students and families! I also extend a very wholehearted welcome to our new BF families! I am looking forward to making 2015-2016 a fun and productive year. Our students are so fortunate to be enrolled in a school with an outstanding administration and exceptional teachers along with a great PTA executive board.

First, I wanted to tell you a little about myself and inform you about what the PTA is all about! My name is Lori Brower. This is my 6th year involved in the PTA. My son Brendon is in the 5th grade and my daughter Brooke is in 2nd grade. I have lived in Corona for 12 years and I own a home health care business. I hold this opportunity in high regard and I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!

The purpose of the PTA is to first and foremost support our students. In addition, it supports the faculty, staff, parents, and the local community. “Every Child-One Voice” is the National PTA motto and the PTA is one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. An effective and successful PTA requires support and involvement of the parents of our students. I am very excited about this school year and all the programs PTA will be offering. I have an amazing board who have been busy making plans for the upcoming school year and are excited at the prospect of both bringing new programs to Ben Franklin Elementary and continuing many traditional favorites. Some of the programs that we are currently exploring are: Art Masters, Environmental awareness activities, Anti-bullying resources, Music Program,  Accelerated Reader, Nutrition and fitness information and incentives, Family math and science nights, adding cooling misters to playground area and more!

Our PTA is made up of volunteer so we need your support! Your first opportunity to show support is to become a member of the Ben Franklin PTA. You will find membership envelopes in your first day packet. The second way to show your support will be to participate in the numerous exciting events and programs that we have planned throughout the year.

We will be holding our monthly PTA meetings in Ben’s Study on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. The open session will be from 1:40-1:57pm. At this meeting we will be discussing upcoming activities, communications and create committees for upcoming PTA events. You may choose to be a committee chair, committee member, or volunteer. Whatever the level of participation, your time and involvement will be greatly appreciated. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they cannot attend all our meetings or be at school during the day. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours in or outside of school hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be worth your while—and fun!

I invite you to stay informed of our upcoming events as well as the goings-on of our school by liking our Facebook page “Ben Franklin PTA.” We will also be publishing a monthly newsletter to keep you updated.  Please visit our Ben Franklin PTA Google Site at www.sites.google.com/site/benfranklinpta4you/ and take a moment to sign up for our E-Newsletter!

Thank you in advance for being part (big or small) of our PTA and I am here to assist you in any way that I can.  Feel free to contact me anytime about anything PTA related @ 951-317-5671 or lobrower@ymail.com.

    Sincerely,

Lori Brower - President, Ben Franklin PTA
