Welcome to Susan B. Anthony, a California Distinguished School and Golden Bell Recipient, and a great learning environment. It is with unlimited enthusiasm that I welcome you to our school.  The staff and I anticipate, expect, and support great successes for all of our students here at Anthony.

We offer a comprehensive education Kindergarten through 6th grade.  We facilitate our students’ learning of the Standards through high expectations, care, support, and effective instructional strategies. Susan B. Anthony believes in the philosophy of a Professional Learning Community.  Our teachers work in teams focused on student learning and achievement.  Teachers take ownership of every student here at Anthony.

Rick and Becky DuFour, two leaders in the development of Professional Learning Communities (PLC), express well how we operate as a learning community:

 1.    We accept learning as the fundamental purpose of our school and therefore are willing to examine all practices in light of their impact on learning.

2.    We are committed to working together to achieve our collective purpose.  We cultivate a collaborative culture through development of high-performing teams.

3.    We assess our effectiveness on the basis of results rather than intentions.  Individuals, teams, and schools seek relevant data information and use that knowledge to promote continuous improvement.

It is my hope that you join us as a valuable member of our Professional Learning Community.  Please look for the opportunities available to you to get involved in the education of your child.  We offer Parent Information Night, Open House, ELAC, PTA, and, of course, parent volunteers in the classroom.  Most importantly, we encourage you to communicate closely with your child’s teacher and support your student with their homework and in developing them into responsible learners.

I am truly thrilled to be the principal of Susan B. Anthony and, on behalf of the staff; we look forward to working with you in the education of your child.

Mr. Reider
