Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Lori Clays
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to welcome both our new and returning Cougar Cubs to Sierra Vista Elementary School and to the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
This year, Sierra Vista is starting the five-year process of becoming a “Leader in Me” school. The “Leader in Me” is a process where the entire staff works on and teaches Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” This year our staff will be teaching the students the following principles:
Begin with the End in Mind
Put First Things First
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Sharpen the Saw
As the year begins, students and families will get more information on how we will be teaching the students how to become leaders in their own lives!
Along with the “Leader in Me” process, Sierra Vista will continue to teach the Common Core State Standards using technology, best practices, and student engagement.
This summer all students in grades 3-6 who took the new state tests last spring will receive test results. These results will be reviewed and discussed during Coffee with the Principal and parent nights. As results come in, please feel free to set up an appointment with administration if you would like to discuss the report.
At Sierra Vista, we are also fortunate to have an amazing staff and PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Parents who are wishing to contribute to their student’s class can do so by volunteering in the classroom, helping from home, or even simply by just joining the PTA. Throughout the year, Sierra Vista will be holding many fun events where all families and community members are welcome. We invite you to become involved in your student’s education by attending an event or volunteering in any way.
From time to time, families may have questions or concerns. Please know that our teachers, staff, and myself, love to meet with families and we truly desire the very best for your student’s educational and social development. We look forward to an amazing year where we will continue to “Leave footprints worth following!”
