On behalf of the entire Garretson Elementary School staff, I want to welcome you to the upcoming 2017-18 school year. We look forward to getting to know our new Gator students and families and reconnecting with all returning students and families!
We invite you to walk up to our front office area and check out our class lists for students in Transitional Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 9th. Gates open at 8:00 a.m., school begins at 8:45AM and dismissal is 2:57PM (Grades 1-6). Parents are welcome on campus the first day of school for pictures and to greet their teachers at their class lines on the playground. Parents are reminded that beginning Wednesday, August 16th, students will be released at 1:57PM each Wednesday.
A friendly reminder to all incoming TK/Kindergarten families: Please ensure you attend the meeting on Monday, August 7th at 5:30 PM for important Parent Information regarding your child’s schedule and specific school procedures.
Last year, Garretson started its modernization project funded by Measure GG. Over the summer break, our school was under Phase 1 of the construction. You will notice that the front of the school is beginning to look very different. We are excited that Phase 1 of the construction is scheduled to be completed in the winter.
Please do not hesitate to call our office at (951) 736-3345 anytime you have questions, suggestions, or concerns.
Again, we welcome each of you to our Garretson family. We anticipate a successful school year and look forward to working and learning with all of you!
Mrs. Luna, Principal

CNUSD School Safety is Top Priority
The Corona-Norco Unified School District considers the safety and health of our staff and students a top priority. To further safeguard the safety of your child while in our care we have implemented a new visitor management system to ensure that individuals visiting our campuses and interacting with our students are authorized to do so. CNUSD believes there is a safer way to monitor visitors on our campus and has replaced the paper visitor sign-in sheets with the Raptor Visitor Management System. You will continue to be required to present your identification to the office staff. Accepted forms of identification are as follows:
- Any state issued driver’s license or identification card
- Matrícular Consular card
- Military ID (active duty or retired)
- Permanent resident card
Thank you, in advance, for your support and cooperation as our Garretson staff implements the Raptor system and follows established district-wide policies and procedures to promote campus safety.
Gators on Time
At Garretson, we are always striving for excellence. We are working towards improving school attendance for all of our students. Students can be dropped off beginning at 8:00; breakfast is available starting at 8:10 and students may play during recess or participate in the 100 Mile Club. The bell to line-up rings at 8:42 with the expectation that all students are in their desks by 8:45, ready to learn.
We are proud to provide every 3rd-6th grade Gator student with a Student Planner free of charge. The Garretson Student Planner has proven to be an effective tool to support Gator scholars in organization and time management skills necessary for success in school. Parents are highly encouraged to monitor your child’s assignments and homework using the Student Planner.
