Welcome to the Ben Franklin Elementary Website
Welcome to our school's Webpage. Our school remains consistently focused on its mission statement of "Learning is job one!" Included on these Web pages is vital information every parent should know regarding our school. Our teachers are dedicated to giving their best for all children. Education is one of the determining factors on whether our kids today have a chance of obtaining their dreams tomorrow.
Our staff is dedicated to teamwork, developing student experiences of success, building self-esteem, and instilling knowledge and positive virtues. Ben Franklin School provides an environment for students to learn and grow, build friendships and successes, and to play and reach for their dreams.
Ben Franklin School adheres to the Common Core State Standards. The Standards indicate what is to be learned in each subject area each year. Therefore, teachers instruct and assess students toward learning all the Standards for their grade level prior to the yearly state assessments in spring.
We have Timelines for Learning that include responsibilities for students and parents. The Timelines for Learning can also be found on this Web site.
Our school also has a "Parents are Responsible" program. This program requires parents enrolling a child after Parent Information Night to attend a meeting with their child's new teacher within 10 days of the child's first day at our school. This meeting permits the teacher to best inform parents of our expectations and programs for a good start at our school.
The Parents are Responsible program also includes notification to parents when their child is not meeting our Timelines for Learning or Behavior/Good Manners requirements. Notification to parents keeps them best informed for early intervention.
Besides our Timelines for Learning and a quality staff team, we also have a hard working group of parent volunteers and PTA. Parents are often interested in volunteering in classrooms. We welcome their assistance. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child's teacher. Our PTA is another means of volunteering. Whether you are volunteering with PTA or just learning what they do at our school, you will be impressed with their energy and promotion of programs for our school.
A character education program is part of our school. The overall virtue selected for the school is "respect." Each grade level has its own virtue. They are: kindergarten-friendship; 1st grade-honesty; 2nd grade-perseverance; 3rd grade-responsibility; 4th grade-compassion; 5th grade-self discipline; and, 6th grade-courage. These virtues aid in developing an environment of social growth and safe learning.
We have a great school with super people. We hope you will take a few moments to enjoy our web pages.
