  • The Energy Coalition - Saving Energy At School Program (PEAK) 2006
     $10,000
for an energy saving plan by APES 2005-2006.
*Students participated in designing a “saving energy at school” plan. The winning group was award $2000 and the  school got $10,000 to implement their plan. The students plan included the installation of Surveyor, a software program that monitors and manages use of network computer systems, on all of CHS’s 600 computers. The software automatically puts unused computers into a sleep mode controlled and monitored at the district office. The software was installed at the beginning of March on half of the schools computers (326 computers). Daily,  CHS realizes $30 in energy savings. Annual savings using Surveyor on all CHS computers is estimated at $10,000. By Summer 2006, all the computers in the school will have the energy efficiency software installed.  Students also created public service announcements about energy efficiency This resulted in 6 well-crafted videos suitable for distribution to students of all ages in all PEAK school districts.
