Welcome to the Corona-Norco Unified School District, and thank you for visiting our website. I am extremely proud of our District and grateful to have worked on the executive team for the past four years. As I begin my tenure as Superintendent, I look forward to future success, building upon the solid foundation of academic excellence and integrity.School districts throughout the state of California are experiencing unprecedented fiscal challenges and diminishing resources. Together as a community, our District will stand tall in the face of this difficult fiscal situation. CNUSD remains dedicated to preparing students to succeed academically and to lead productive lives in the global community in which we now live. We believe in educating the whole child by providing an instructional program that is rigorous, experiential, meaningful and aligned with state standards.
Our District was recently recognized as one of four national finalists for the 2012 Eli and Edythe Broad Prize for Urban Education for demonstrating the greatest overall performance and improvement in student achievement, while reducing the achievement gap among economically disadvantaged students. This honor makes me especially proud because we strongly believe that every student should be given the tools to succeed and thrive.
That doesn’t mean we can stand still and admire past achievements. All successful organizations continually push themselves to reach higher levels on the path to greatness. I believe CNUSD is well-positioned for greater success if we continue to focus on what matters most – ensuring that high-quality teaching and learning is happening in each and every classroom, every day. Together we are going to make sure every child who graduates from our District leaves us with a promising future ahead.
Our successes are due to the dedicated and talented people involved throughout the entire process. Our faculty members are lifelong learners, showing care and compassion for students and their educational pursuits. Our support staff is ready and willing to serve as needed, tapping into their extensive knowledge and experience. Our administrators recognize the value of personnel development and student services, and strive to lead the District to efficient and valuable achievements. Supporting all of these groups is our five-member Board of Trustees, elected by the community.
Parents, community members and area businesses are unanimous in their support for CNUSD schools. Their commitment to fundraising, volunteering and school involvement plays a significant role in student success.
To continue to stay connected with CNUSD employees, students, families and community members, we are excited to present our District news site, featuring updates and articles about everything from student recognition to district events: http://news.cnusd.net. I also encourage you to follow us on Twitter @CNUSD and “like” us at Facebook.com/CNUSD.
I look forward to working with you in an effort to provide the highest quality education and school experience for our students. Your involvement and commitment to students is essential. Thank you for your loyalty and support, and for taking a few moments to visit our website today.
Sincerely,
Michael H. Lin, Ed.D.
