Over 100 juniors and seniors representing each high school in the District arrived at the Career Day and Business Expo on March 12 in professional attire and prepared to interview. Most students had the opportunity to interview three times with one student being offered an internship on the spot. This event was made possible by the Corona Chamber of Commerce, City of Corona and the Corona-Norco Unified School District, a partnership that connects students with the local business community. The annual event draws over 1,000 attendees and is open to the public and free to attend. The Career Day component allows high school students to interact with the business community by participating in workshops and mock interviews.
“Preparing the next generation for productive employment is extremely important to our District,” said Cathy Sciortino, CNUSD Board Member and Business Expo Committee Member. The Business Expo Committee is responsible for the planning and coordination of this highly successful event. Daniel Cardenas, Senior at Norco High School reflects on the day by saying, ” I learned valuable information such as the importance of body language during an interview. I was given a lot of valuable feedback and tips for my next interview.”
