Let Kids Succeed Program Launches at Garretson Elementary
Let Kids Succeed is a school supply drive at Garretson Elementary in Corona coordinated by Suzanne Adame. What started a simple inquiry about Fitness and Nutrition at Kaiser Permanente, the program aims to help children in need of school materials. Adame and Principal Russ Schriver expressed their gratitude after the program’s pilot launch. “A lot of kids are going to have a better start to the school year,” said Schriver. “There are families who are doing their absolute best but still struggle to make ends meet, so this will help take these kids to the next level.”
Let Kids Succeed is in its first year with hopes that it will be ongoing. To determine the needs of students, a half sheet was sent in the annual communication folders that children take home. The sheet asked parents what resources they needed help with. They were also free to donate resources. Teachers will also take note of any students who don’t have backpacks or other needed materials.
