GIRLS GOLF: Santiago Ready to Dance After Key Win

Published: Sept. 25, 2014 Updated: 10:49 a.m.

CORONA :€" There are enough trees lining the The Golf Club at Glen Ivy that there's plenty of sap all around the fairways.

However, they've got nothing on the sign that awaited Corona Santiago senior Erica Wang on the concrete outside the club'€™s bar and grill following Tuesday's round.

"Can we be two birdies at homecoming?"€ the bright fluorescent sign read, with her smiling suitor standing behind it.

"€œI really liked the poster," said Wang, and yes, she said yes to the good friend who asked her to the Oct. 11 dance.

That answer capped a great day for Wang and her Santiago teammates as the Sharks turned back Corona Centennial, 201-229, in Tuesday’s Big VIII League showdown on the 2,708-yard front nine of the south Corona course.

Santiago'€™s girls are beginning to believe they have a deep team postseason run in them

"I'€™m really excited about what'€™s to come for us,"€ Wang said. "€œI think this is the best team we'€™ve had to date."€
