Brice Turang, a freshman at Santiago High School in Corona, Calif., was presented with the 2014 USA Baseball Richard W. “Dick” Case Player of the Year Award at halftime of the Sharks boys’ varsity basketball game against Roosevelt High School on Thursday, February 12. Turang was named the recipient of the award after his work on the field for the 2014 USA Baseball 15U National Team, which brought home a silver medal at the WBSC ‘AA’/15U World Cup in Mazatlán, Mexico last July.

Turang was nearly unstoppable at the plate, where he hit .553, while amassing 21 hits and 13 RBI. He also scored 19 runs, tallied eight walks and stole nine bases. He recorded six multi-hit games, notched a hit in nine out of ten games, was named to the All-Tournament Team as an outfielder and the WBSC World Cup’s “Leading Hitter,” helping lead Team USA to a 9-1 record and a silver medal finish.
