  • Welcome to our new and exciting website.

As you may have heard, we have implemented a new motto at school – Viking S.T.R.O.N.G!  The students know that S.T.R.O.N.G. stands for Scholar, Trustworthy, Respectful, Organized, No Excuses, and Growth Mindset.  These six traits will be incorporated into everything we do at Vicentia.

We are excited to announce that we started P.B.I.S. and AVID at Vicentia! 2nd -6th grade will be teaching AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). It's dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other post-secondary opportunities.  Thank you for helping support these initiatives at Vicentia!

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)

Our school is participating in an important initiative called Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS).  This program is a proactive approach to establishing behavioral, academic, and social expectations school wide for all students to achieve.  It helps create safer and more effective schools.

To be successful, our behavior program should be a partnership between home and school.  We have established a set of unified expectations for the school that can be found on our PBIS matrix.  Everything goes back to our new school motto – Viking S.T.R.O.N.G.  This matrix was created by students and staff and helps define the expectations in various locations in our school.  Both positive rewards/incentives, as well as our choices slips/office referrals will always refer back to our matrix.

Please support PBIS at Vicentia by:

*Reviewing the expectations matrix with your child/children

*Using the six expectations at home

*Reminding your child/children of the matrix before school each day

*Bringing your child/children to school every day and on time

*Providing positive reinforcement (rewarding good choices with compliments or quality time)
