Woodrow Wilson Elementary School was first established in October of 2000 with only 69 students. At the beginning of the 2007-08 school year, that number has increased to approximately 1100 students. Woodrow Wilson Elementary holds the distinction as being the first developer designed and built school in the state of California. Nestled in the hills of southern Corona, Wilson Elementary is beautifully landscaped and structured so as to provide a nurturing environment for all students..
At Wilson Elementary, we believe that all students can be successful and that all will soar to success. To that end, all students, staff and parents work together to meet the needs of all students. Teamwork is the common bond between all stakeholders here at Wilson. The school-community relationships are exemplary. All teachers engage in an ongoing structured staff development program to ensure optimum success for all students. The Wilson PTA is always in the forefront to assist with student needs as well as supplement school wide projects. We truly value parental and community support. As one noted spokesman has said, “it takes a village to raise a child.” To that end, we recognize the need to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge that our parents and surrounding community can provide.
The staff here at Wilson Elementary has worked with our local School Site Council, PTA and business partnerships to provide all students with an accelerated, standards based curriculum. One of our premier programs is the Accelerated Reader program. Students at all grade levels have access to this computer based leveled reading program. This program is designed to accelerate student progress by providing limitless opportunities for students to read at their own levels. Additionally, the Accelerated Math Program is available for students in grades 3-6. Similar to the reading program, the Accelerated Math program provides students with additional opportunities to practice their math skills, as well as providing additional practice for students who have not yet mastered the grade level standards.
We truly are proud to be a part of the educational process for students here at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. At Wilson, parents can be assured that no child will be left behind. In fact, we are committed to the philosophy that all students will soar to success.
