CNUSD Science Students Go International!

Thousand Oaks, CA - CNUSD showed off their innovation and scientific excellence at the 75th Annual California State Science and Engineering Fair, held April 11–12 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

The highly competitive, statewide event brought together more than 900 students representing 350 schools, with 725 projects entered across 21 categories. CNUSD was well represented, with students competing in both the Junior and Senior Divisions.

Junior Division participants included:

  • Vienna Zhou, El Cerrito Intermediate School

Senior Division participants included:

  • Chaitra Ayinampudi, Roosevelt High School

  • Sai Srinika Bommineni and Tarini Siram, Roosevelt High School (Devulapalle Innovative Award)

  • Ava George, Centennial High School (Honorable Mention)

  • Filza Jamal and Deeba Siddiqui, Santiago High School

  • Rayyan Khalique, Trevon Nguyen, and Dylan Patel, Centennial High School

  • Arav Randhawa and Avijeet Randhawa, Corona High School

  • Adithiyan Sathees and Nilay Vora, Centennial High School

  • Harleen Virk, Roosevelt High School

  • Leila Vu, Roosevelt High School

Two CNUSD projects earned advancement to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will take place May 10–15 in Phoenix, Arizona:

  • Filza Jamal and Deeba Siddiqui, sophomores from Santiago High School, for their project “Scorching Stucco: Preventing Wildfire Damage”

  • Adithiyan Sathees and Nilay Vora, juniors from Centennial High School, for their project “Integrated Deconvolution of Oxidative, Colloidal, and Rheological Failure Modes Governing Microvascular Oxygen Delivery in Hemoglobin-Based Oxygen Carriers Under Field-Mimicking Thermal Cycling”

CNUSD congratulates all participating student scientists for their dedication, curiosity, and achievement at the state level, and wishes its ISEF competitors continued success on the international stage.
