We are excited to announce, six of our schools are preparing to break ground on additional classrooms to accommodate for our smaller class sizes and expanded Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs district wide.
Starting in January 2025, the following schools will begin to see construction take place:
-
VanderMolen Elementary (4 classrooms)
-
Jefferson Elementary (4 classrooms)
-
Barton Elementary (4 classrooms)
-
Harada Elementary (3 classrooms)
-
Temescal Valley Elementary (3 classrooms)
-
Rondo School of Discovery (3 classrooms)
All construction projects are anticipated to be completed in summer 2025 in time for use in the 2025-26 school year.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS:
Our facilities team works strategically with our construction partners to minimize impacts of these projects, the majority of work will take place in fenced off areas of playground/fields. To ensure the safety of all students and staff, any construction work outside of the designated fenced-off construction area will only be completed outside of school hours and/or on non-school days.
There will be some construction noise during the duration of the project, but we will stay within the city noise time frames, and coordinate with the site to make sure we don't disrupt testing dates with noise.
A few sites will receive some additional ADA upgrades in their parking lots, but the majority of that work will take place during spring break, with minimal impacts to sites. For year-round sites, that work will take place after hours and on the weekends to avoid impacting site traffic.
Should you have any questions regarding these projects, please feel free to reach out to your school site administration.
