Corona High Students Prioritize Wellness During Mental Health Awareness Week
Corona, CA - In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Corona High School hosted a weeklong event dedicated to student wellness, connection, and support. Held during lunchtime, Mental Health Awareness Week gave students the opportunity to explore healthy coping strategies, connect with local organizations, and learn about mental health in meaningful, hands-on ways.
Throughout the week, students engaged with several community partners, each offering unique tools and insights:
-
Big Brothers Big Sisters encouraged students to explore the power of mentorship and how trusted relationships can positively impact emotional well-being.
-
Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health provided students with calming strategies, resources to manage anxiety, and stickers with positive affirmations.
-
TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention Education) led important conversations about the impact of substance use—especially vaping—on mental health.
-
Operation SafeHouse introduced students to local support services available to youth and offered tools for navigating mental health challenges.
-
Corona Art Association provided art supplies and hands-on activities, showing students how creativity can serve as a powerful and healthy outlet.
In addition to connecting with community organizations, students also had the chance to express themselves through art-based activities, discovering how creativity can be a powerful tool for stress relief and emotional expression.
The week served as a reminder that mental health matters—and that reaching out, connecting with others, and finding healthy ways to cope are essential for overall well-being.
Thank you to our community partners for supporting our students and helping to build a culture of care at Corona High!
