ERHS's BEST Program Wins Golden Bell Award

Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s B.E.S.T. (Bilingual Empowerment & Student Translation) Leadership Program has earned the distinguished Golden Bell Award®, recognizing its exceptional support for newcomer English learner (EL) students. This prestigious honor, awarded by the California School Boards Association (CSBA), celebrates innovative programs that enhance student achievement through exemplary practices.

The B.E.S.T. Program empowers multilingual students to serve as mentors and tutors, providing real-time translation, social-emotional support, and cultural guidance to their EL peers. Through collaborative efforts with EL teachers, B.E.S.T. fosters a welcoming environment while bridging academic and cultural gaps. The program also organizes cultural events, strengthening unity and understanding across the school’s diverse community.

The Golden Bell Award acknowledges programs demonstrating outstanding impact, sustainability, and innovation in public education. Roosevelt High School’s B.E.S.T. Program exemplifies these qualities, making a meaningful difference in the lives of its students and the broader school community.
