March 2025 Board Meeting & Student Recognition

Norco, CA - Tuesday, March 4, 2025

March has been a remarkable month for our students and staff, with numerous achievements worthy of celebration. First, our Board of Education, Student Recognition took place to highlight students who exemplify outstanding dedication, creativity, and leadership across the District.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to the following individuals and programs recognized at our recent Board Meeting:

  1. Chelsea De Santos – Noon Supervisor, Parkridge Elementary School
    Recognized for her heroic response in helping a student who was choking, successfully performing the Heimlich maneuver and saving the student’s life.

  2. Daniel Hendrix, Jr. – Head Custodian, Ramirez Intermediate School
    Honored for his quick thinking and bravery when he helped a student who was choking on their food, also successfully performing the Heimlich maneuver.

  3. Exceptional Students’ Junior Olympics – Becky Weaver, Principal, McKinley Elementary School
    Celebrated for starting the Junior Olympics program for students with special needs, providing them with opportunities to compete, collaborate, and build confidence.

  4. CNUSD Unified Sports Coordinator – Matthew Lance, Teacher, Centennial High School
    Recognized for spearheading inclusive sports programs, such as soccer and volleyball, across all comprehensive high schools, ensuring that students with special needs can participate in team sports. CLICK HERE FOR MORE!

  5. CNUSD Junior Olympics – Dr. Brian Leedy, Principal, VanderMolen Fundamental Elementary School
    Acknowledged for his longstanding commitment to coaching and coordinating the annual track and field event for 4th–6th grade students, fostering fun, camaraderie, and school spirit.

  6. The Elementary Soccer Tournament
    Recognized for growing into a significant program involving 10 elementary schools, offering trophies, fun competition, and meaningful engagement for young athletes.

  7. 2025 CABE Seal of Excellence School Award – Chavez Academy
    Honored for its dual immersion program, which demonstrates high-quality instruction and professional development, creating exceptional language-learning opportunities for students.

Each of these recognitions reflects the immense talent, innovation, and passion found within our District. Congratulations to all of our honorees on these well-deserved achievements.
