Santiago Shark Wins National PTA Awards

Santiago High School Student, Mariah Moreno, Makes History with State and National PTA Reflections Awards

Santiago High School is celebrating a historic achievement by student artist Mariah Moreno, who has earned both state and national recognition for her work in this year’s PTA Reflections program. Mariah was awarded the Outstanding Interpretation award at the California State PTA level, and went on to receive an Award of Excellence at the National PTA level—an extraordinary accomplishment that marks the first time a student from Santiago High School or the entire Corona Norco Council has received these honors.

The Reflections program, which invites students across the country to explore their creativity through visual arts, literature, music, photography, film, and dance, centers around a different theme each year. This year’s theme, “Accepting Imperfections,” challenged students to reflect on the importance of self-acceptance, empathy, and embracing flaws as part of what makes each person uniquely human.

Mariah’s submission stood out among thousands of entries for its creativity, emotional depth, and powerful message of embracing flaws and finding beauty in our uniqueness.

Congratulations, Mariah, on this well-deserved recognition and for making history in the process!
