Corona, CA – The Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) is incredibly proud to celebrate Robert “Bob” Mauger, the Automotive Technology teacher at Corona High School, for being named one of five 2025 California Teachers of the Year. This prestigious honor reflects his unwavering dedication, passion, and the tremendous impact he has made on students throughout his teaching career.
Bob Mauger has revitalized the automotive technology program at Corona High School, giving students not only the technical skills necessary to excel in the automotive industry but also instilling life lessons such as confidence, a strong work ethic, and integrity. His classroom serves as a launching pad for students, preparing them to transition into their future careers with the skills they need to thrive.
“We are incredibly proud of Bob Mauger’s recognition as a 2025 California Teacher of the Year. His dedication to providing students with both technical skills and life lessons reflects the heart of our district’s mission. Mr. Mauger exemplifies the passion and commitment we strive for in all of our educators, and we are honored to have him as part of the CNUSD family,” said Dr. Samuel Buenrostro, CNUSD Superintendent.
Bob’s path to teaching was unique, having initially pursued a degree in social and criminal justice. However, after volunteering at his daughter's elementary school and discovering a deep interest in child development, he found his true calling in education. Working as a paraeducator for students with emotional and behavioral needs further solidified his desire to support young people. It was his lifelong passion for mechanics and hands-on learning, passed down from his father, that eventually led him to restore the auto tech program at Corona High School to its current industry-leading standard.
Known for his resourcefulness and commitment, Mr. Mauger has worked hard to secure industry-standard tools and equipment for his students. His colleagues describe him as "a consummate professional," praising his high standards, communication skills, and dedication to making his program one of the best in the nation.
Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Edwin Gomez, also praised Mr. Mauger’s achievements, stating, “Mr. Mauger’s selection as a 2025 California Teacher of the Year is a testament to the excellence of educators across Riverside County who continue to focus on providing outstanding opportunities for students in their classrooms while preparing them for their future. His resourcefulness in securing industry-standard tools and equipment helps ensure that students have what they need to succeed, secure jobs, and overcome personal challenges.”
At CNUSD, we are incredibly fortunate to have educators like Bob Mauger, who go above and beyond to ensure their students are prepared for bright futures. His selection as a California Teacher of the Year is a testament to his commitment to education, and we couldn’t be prouder to have him represent our district at the state level.
Congratulations, Mr. Mauger, and thank you for your dedication and for making such a lasting difference in the lives of your students!
