Santiago Hits All the Right Notes

Santiago High School made history at the 2024 Arcadia Festival of Bands with a record-breaking win, while Roosevelt and Norco High Schools also showcased CNUSD’s exceptional musical talent.

The sound of triumph filled the air, as the marching bands and color guards from Norco High School, Roosevelt High School, and Santiago High School proudly represented the Corona-Norco Unified School District at the prestigious Arcadia Festival of Bands.

Santiago High School delivered an unforgettable performance, earning the coveted Overall Sweepstakes Champion title with an outstanding, record-breaking score of 96.9. This groundbreaking achievement marks the first Grand Champion win in CNUSD history, ending two decades of dominance by other leading programs. The accomplishment speaks volumes about the dedication, hard work, and passion of Santiago’s students and staff.

The Arcadia Festival of Bands, a cornerstone event since 1955, has earned its reputation as the longest-running and one of the most prestigious band reviews in California. This year’s competition brought together 44 elite marching bands, showcasing remarkable talent and artistry from across Southern California.

In addition to Santiago’s historic victory:
       • Drum Major Elias Joaquin secured a remarkable 2nd place overall out of 44 competitors.
       • Color Guard achieved an impressive 3rd place in the AA Division, further solidifying Santiago’s exceptional performance.

Other CNUSD bands also delivered standout performances:
       • Roosevelt High School took 5th place with a score of 94.0, impressing judges with their precision and artistry.
       • Norco High School finished in 7th place with a score of 93.9, showcasing their growth and exceptional talent.

Santiago’s victory is a reflection of the unwavering commitment of its team, led by Directors Joseph Dudek, Kevin McGee, and Tayor Estep, drum coach Aaron Sherer, and Color Guard Director Corkie Keys, alongside their dedicated staff. Their leadership has propelled the program to new heights, creating a legacy of excellence that will inspire future generations of students.
