New CNUSD Cell Phone Policy

Norco, CA - The Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) is implementing a new cell phone policy to support student learning by minimizing distractions during instructional time. This decision aligns with State Legislation AB 272 and AB 3216 (Proposed) and follows direction from the Board of Education.

The policy rollout began this month, with full implementation across all school sites expected in the 2025-26 school year.

Key guidelines include:

  • Elementary & Intermediate Students: Phones must be off or silenced and stored in a backpack, locker, or pocket throughout the school day.

  • High School Students: Phones must be off or silenced and away from bell to bell, permitted only during non-instructional time (e.g., passing periods, lunch).

Exceptions apply in emergencies, for medical needs, or when teachers/admins grant permission for learning purposes.
