Eastvale, CA - The vibrant sounds of mariachi music, the swirling colors of traditional dance skirts, and the aroma of delicious food filled the air at Eleanor Roosevelt High School on Saturday, March 22, 2025, as the CNUSD community came together for the 8th Annual De Colores event—a celebration of Latino culture, tradition, and unity.
Hosted in the heart of Eastvale, De Colores is a CNUSD tradition that brings families, students, staff, and community members together to honor the richness and diversity of Latino heritage. The event featured captivating performances from students across all four CNUSD Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs in Eastvale: Harada Elementary, River Heights Intermediate, Vandermolen Elementary, and Eleanor Roosevelt High School.
Each performance was a vibrant showcase of music, movement, and cultural pride, representing the hard work of students and staff who are not only learning a second language but also gaining a deeper appreciation for the cultures behind it. From folklórico dances to student-led musical numbers, every group told a story of connection, identity, and celebration.
CNUSD’s DLI programs are designed to promote bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism, preparing students to thrive in an increasingly global society. Events like De Colores provide students with opportunities to share what they’ve learned beyond the classroom, while also reinforcing the importance of community, culture, and pride in heritage.
In addition to student performances, guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere complete with food trucks, and local vendors, making the event a true community gathering. Families connected, students showcased their talents, and traditions were passed down through dance, music, and storytelling.
Now in its eighth year, De Colores continues to grow in both participation and impact, serving as a joyful reminder of how culture brings people together. CNUSD is proud to support events like this, where language learning is enriched through cultural celebration, and students are empowered to build connection, confidence, and pride.
