Attendance Policy

Regular Classes

Students may miss up to 2 days, but one minute more (such as a tardy) will result in dropping the student from the course.

1 full class missed = 3 hours absence

Tardy 1-15 minutes = 15 minutes absence

Tardy 16-30 minutes = 30 minutes absence

Tardy 31-45 minutes = 45 minutes absence

Tardy 46-60 minutes = 60 minutes absence

Virtual Classes

Virtual students are not required to report to the school site in person. All virtual students will have access to their curriculum 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Attendance is based on satisfactory academic progress as defined in the course syllabus. All students are expected to log in each day and complete the days assigned work.

Summer Bridge

Same as "Regular Classes" listed above.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What if a student needs to miss a day of school due to an emergency or pre-scheduled appointment? Students may miss a total of 2 class days, whether it is a few minutes from each day, or all in one lump sum. Students are required to be physically present in class for a certain number of hours to ensure quality instruction and learning. In order to receive credit for a class, the student may only miss up to 2 total school days of a given session. Keep in mind, that a tardy or absences (regardless of how many minutes the student is late) is rounded up to the nearest 15-minute increment. That means if a student is 20 minutes late, the student will be counted as being absent for 30 minutes. To ensure a student is not dropped and continues to work towards credit recovery in summer school, we encourage all students to attend the entire session without tardies or absences.

What if my student needs to miss for court purposes or a family emergency? Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made due to the requirements of physical seat time in a given course in order to receive credit.

How do I know how much time my student has missed? You or your student may contact the teacher directly or speak with the attendance clerk. It is common for students to ask on a daily basis for those with frequent absences or tardies.

What if I wasn't enrolled into a class until the 2nd or 3rd day? Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made due to the requirements of physical seat time in a given course in order to receive credit.
