Celebrating Three CNUSD California Distinguished Schools
Sacramento, CA - The California Department of Education has named three Corona-Norco Unified School District campuses, Dr. Augustine Ramirez Intermediate School, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, and John F. Kennedy Middle College High School, as 2026 California Distinguished Schools, one of the state’s highest honors for public schools.
The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes campuses that demonstrate exceptional student outcomes and a strong commitment to helping all students succeed. Since its launch in 1985, the program has celebrated schools across California for their innovation, dedication, and impact on student learning.
This year’s recognition highlights schools that stand out in categories such as Exemplary High Achievers, which honors schools with some of the highest academic outcomes in the state while ensuring historically underserved student groups continue to make progress. Schools may also be recognized as Achievement Gap Closers, a category that celebrates campuses accelerating academic growth for historically underserved student groups while maintaining strong results for all students.
The 2026 California Distinguished Schools were identified using results from the 2025 California School Dashboard, the state’s accountability system for public schools. Schools must demonstrate strong academic performance, maintain high participation in statewide assessments, and show positive indicators for school climate to qualify.
The three CNUSD schools will be recognized along with other statewide honorees during a celebration at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim on April 24, 2026.
This recognition reflects the dedication of CNUSD students, educators, and staff members who work together each day to create opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.
Congratulations on this incredible achievement!
