How CNUSD Transportation is handling the concerns for the Corona Virus, COVID-19:

The District’s transportation department and contractor First Student are working together to ensure we provide a safe operating environment for all students and employees.

We are closely monitoring the status of the coronavirus and following our Crisis Response Plan that includes health and safety measures being taken by the District.  First Student also has protocols and resources in place to reduce the spread of illness across their business and services, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that apply to infection control response.  These consist of the proper steps and notification process to follow if a driver, monitor, or student is diagnosed with the illness.

  • Cleaning protocols in place mirror the CDC’s recommendations for preventive actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases.
  • Drivers have been instructed to make cleaning touch points a high priority: door handles, handrails, seat belts, buckles, etc.
  • Proactively communicating with drivers about how to stay healthy with a focus on the importance of frequently hand washing.
  • Additional gloves and cleaning products are being stocked at the bus yard for employees.
  • Additional hand sanitizing dispensers will be available for bus drivers to carry with them.
  • Drivers are prepared to deliver safety messaging to students as they begin their routes.
  • Guidelines are in place when deemed necessary to clean the interiors of buses and/or to remove any bus from service until disinfection is properly completed.

Because this situation remains fluid, we encourage parents to stay informed with the latest information by visiting CNUSD Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page, located at

Our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff, and we take this responsibility seriously. As a school community, there are some things that we all can do. It is still flu season and we are following the best disease-prevention practices in schools. You should also follow best practices at home, such as:

  • Frequently washing your hands with soap and water
  • Keeping surfaces clean
  • Sneezing or coughing into a tissue or your elbow
  • Most importantly, keeping your child home when they are sick with flu-like symptoms, including a fever of 100-degrees Fahrenheit or 38-degrees Celsius or higher, shortness of breath, and coughing
  • Call your school if your child is staying home sick.
