Community Update

Good evening CNUSD Families,

As we head into the new school year for our B track students next week and our T track students the week following, we realize families are eager to find out what the remote learning environment will consist of for their students.

Over the past month, our Year-Round schools have been in session and have done an outstanding job of leading the way for our District.

We encourage you to watch the video below to hear from teachers, students, and parents on their experience so far.

Thank you to all of our Year-Round families and staff for your hard work and commitment to learning.

Through this pandemic and into the future, let's continue to learn and grow together.

DAILY LIVE INTERACTION REQUIRED

Teachers will connect with their students each school day. Daily live interaction includes but is not limited to: instruction, progress monitoring, maintaining school connectedness, check-ins between teachers and pupils, and the use of print materials incorporating assignment that are the subject of written or oral feedback. This interaction may take the form of internet or telephonic communication, or by other means permissible under public health orders.

INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS

Educators will be expected to provide a minimum of daily instructional minutes to students as required in the chart below. Instructional time shall be based on the time value of assignments and daily live interactions.

TAKING STUDENT ATTENDANCE

State guidelines make daily attendance mandatory and define participation and attendance as the regular interaction in the academic process on the part of the student. We encourage you to ensure that your child(ren) is engaging and participating on a daily basis.

Attendance in school during Remote/Virtual Learning will be determined through the following process and may include:

  • Evidence of participation in online activities
  • Participation in online instruction
  • Completion of regular assignments
  • Contact between pupils or parent/guardian
  • A pupil who does not participate daily shall be deemed absent

Please contact your site administration if you have any questions.

IREADY MAINTENANCE UPDATE

Dear 1st-8th Grade T Track Parents,

SPECIAL EDUCATION UPDATE

Based on the new legislation set forth by SB 98, there are new requirements for remote learning. SB98 provides more guidance to Districts, especially in the area of teacher-student live interaction and engagement. In addition, SB98 provides guidance on  changes to daily instructional minute requirements for Districts.

A Prior Written Notice (PWN) will be sent to all families of students on IEPs within the weeks ahead that translates the current IEP services into comparable services within the Virtual and Remote Model.  Another requirement within SB98 is that upcoming IEPs will include a statement on how “emergency services” will take place in the future that cover situations such as fire, pandemic, flood, etc.

As always, we appreciate the collaboration and flexibility that our families and staff have had during this challenging time.
