"I wanted the Library to be a place that children felt safe and welcomed. I believe the library is the heart of the school." -MaryAnn Sherman

CORONA - Jefferson Elementary dedicated their brand new library to long-time librarian MaryAnn Sherman, who served the Corona-Norco community for 25 years. Her kind and charitable soul is a bastion of goodness that has enriched the lives of thousands of CNUSD families.
MaryAnn Sherman worked at Jefferson Elementary for 25 years between 1989 and 2014 as the school’s librarian. During this time, she shared her love of reading with our students, parents, staff, and community in a compassionate manner. MaryAnn is a humble patriotic servant leader who always seeks out ways to make our community and school a better place. 2017 - The idea to dedicate the library in her name was discussed by Jefferson staff after her retirement as they reflected on how committed she was to our community and students. 2018 - It was debated whether it should be the old library where she worked for 25 years , or whether it should be the new library being constructed under Measure GG school construction projects which were to be completed in the coming years. 2019 – School Site Council unanimously approved the motion to present to CNUSD School Board and ask for their approval of this honor on August 21, 2019. The Board approved.
