2022 Great ShakeOut

This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 20, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home! Below are a few safety tips to remember:

  • Remember to “Duck, Cover and Hold” during an earthquake. Move away and do not face any windows.
  •  Protect yourself from falling objects.
  •  Make sure underneath your desk is clean so you can crawl underneath it.
  •  If you are not near any furniture, sit against an inside wall or inside doorway with your back toward any windows. Again, protect your head.
  •  Stay away from any bookcases, hanging light fixtures or any other heavy objects that may fall.
  •  Maintain cover until the shaking has stopped. Then LEAVE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY.
  •  Go immediately to the Assembly area.
  •  Know the location and know how to shut-off the utilities if necessary.
  •  Remain in control. DO NOT RUN and DO NOT ENTER A BUILDING UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DECLARED SAFE.
  •  For additional information, review your school site Comprehensive Safe School Plan.

We need to be prepared at work and at home for an earthquake as we live in an earthquake region.
