Volunteers help foster stronger school-community relationships by creating common ownership in the success of our schools. Not only is the education and safety for our students our focus, but also your safety as a volunteer.
Board Policy / Administrative Regulation 1240:
A school volunteer is defined as a parent or community member not employed by the district, who completes an application to provide service on campus at a scheduled time and location and is approved in writing by the site administration. Parents and community members visiting classrooms, attending school activities, participating in a parent conference, or coming onto campus for any other single event shall not be considered volunteers.
Review the following district procedures on volunteering:
Volunteering applicants:

Complete the Volunteer Application form.

Provide a valid government photo identification.

Obtain Live Scan Document from your school site based on the number of hours of volunteer service. However, individuals serving as teacher-supervised classroom helpers for fewer than 4 hours per week are exempt from this requirement.

School site staff will verify that the volunteer applicant is not listed on the Megan’s Law website.

Proof of a negative TB results, Chest X-Ray or Risk Assessment is required (must be current within 60 days of submitting a volunteer application).
Chaperones:
Any person(s) interested in chaperoning, supervising children, attending a field trip, a designated driver (transporting students), and/or assisting with school activities sponsored by CNUSD will need to:

Complete the Volunteer Application form.

Provide valid a government photo identification.

School site staff will verify that the volunteer applicant is not listed on the Meagan’s Law website.

Obtain Live Scan Document from your school site. Fingerprint clearance is required from the DOJ (Department of Justice) and FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) for all applicants.
